GP 14 14132 …..Update February 2013
Mike and Liz Seniors all new GP14 is being fitted out as we speak in the workshop ready for display at the Alexandra Palace Dinghy Show 2013 on the Association stand. Mike has been instrumental in the fit out design and layout for the 2013 season and his race spec will be rolled out as our standard race spec with new pricing to follow.

The main change for 2013:- is in the construction itself. All our GP14s are now Epoxy Resin Infused under vacuum and then post cured in a purpose made oven within the factory. Resin Infusion has a number of benefits, the main one being resin to laminate consistency which produces a stiffer higher quality finished hull particularly when compared to hand laminating. We now Infuse the hull the deck and the internal tray. All our smaller parts are hand laminated and vacuum bagged to consolidate
We see this as a major leap forward in manufacturing technology. Come and take a look at this boat on the GP14s Association Stand, March 2nd and 3rd 2013 to find out more.
Christian Birrel and Stuart Bithel ….Update June 2012
Christian and Stuart won the GP14 Nationals at Abersoch in 2011 in a New Boon built FRP GP14, a first for them and a first for our all new boat.
Stuart as you will know has been selected to represent the UK at the upcoming Olympics, so this year the year of the Class World Championships to be held in Looe Cornwall in August Christian is taking the helm in the absence of Stuart.
Below is Christians new epoxy GP14 under construction, 1st picture is the hull under vacuum bag and then followed by the inner tray bonded into the hull whilst still in the mould to ensure accuracy. To follow will be the thwart and seats and the deck to complete, all bonded into place whilst in the mould. This method ensures absolute accuracy and consistency.

The Boon Boats GP14 “PRODUCTION READY”
Update 4th of June 2011.
The Boon Boats Epoxy GP14 has now been formally released for manufacturing.
Production will commence on the 1st of July 2011.
After months of work on design and development, and the last 3 months testing we are ready to go with production. As most of you reading this will know, this project has been underway for the best part of 18months. We have employed the very best in the industry to help with the design and manufacture along with the pick of the very best of suppliers to finish the final package.
Shortly after the boats unveiling at the Dinghy show in March the testing of 14090 began. After initial shake downs the boat was used at a number of events piloted by Norths Sails own Pete “maverick” Mitchel. The boat 14090 went on to win its debut Open Meeting at Nantwich followed by a further 2 wins at Manor Park and Staunton Harold. We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. Since then the boat has been put through its paces at every opportunity, inland and out on the sea at Abersoch, venue for this years Nationals Championships. This particular test was a tough 2 days in some particularly demanding conditions. I am pleased to say she performed beautifully.
Having received feedback from some notable helms in the class we have tweaked the fit out a little in some areas to further improve functionality. From our new through deck sheeting system to the central self bailer, clean deck lines and centreplate stirrups “a class first”, and our own CNC Epoxy moulded foils we are very happy with the end result.
We are currently working on a range of additional items such as rudder bags, mast bags, spinny bags and barriers to compliment our range of covers to be supplied as extras for the boat.
