The Boon Boats GP14 "PRODUCTION READY"
Update 4th of June 2011.
The Boon Boats Epoxy GP14 has now been formally released for manufacturing.
Production will commence on the 1st of July 2011.
After months of work on design and development, and the last 3 months testing we are ready to go with production. As most of you reading this will know, this project has been underway for the best part of 18months. We have employed the very best in the industry to help with the design and manufacture along with the pick of the very best of suppliers to finish the final package.
Shortly after the boats unveiling at the Dinghy show in March the testing of 14090 began. After initial shake downs the boat was used at a number of events piloted by Norths Sails own Pete "maverick" Mitchel. The boat 14090 went on to win its debut Open Meeting at Nantwich followed by a further 2 wins at Manor Park and Staunton Harold. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Since then the boat has been put through its paces at every opportunity, inland and out on the sea at Abersoch, venue for this years Nationals Championships. This particular test was a tough 2 days in some particularly demanding conditions. I am pleased to say she performed beautifully.
Having received feedback from some notable helms in the class we have tweaked the fit out a little in some areas to further improve functionality. From our new through deck sheeting system to the central self bailer, clean deck lines and centreplate stirrups "a class first", and our own CNC Epoxy moulded foils we are very happy with the end result.
We are currently working on a range of additional items such as rudder bags, mast bags, spinny bags and barriers to compliment our range of covers to be supplied as extras for the boat.
