After careful consideration I have decided to step aside from the production of our current championship winning race boats, the GP14 and Solo. I developed these designs from the ground up, to multiple Championship winning packages, with lots of class firsts and many design improvements along the way that have now become the norm.
Both mould sets along with all required production tooling have been purchased by Ovington Boats, known worldwide for their quality of build, fit and finish.
Completing the deal with Managing Director and good friend Chris Turner of Ovington Boats was a pleasure and I know that these superb boats will continue to be produced and improved to provide the respective classes with a top quality product. They have my full support and I wish them all the very best going forward. A press release from Ovington Boats, I am sure will follow shortly.
Boon Boats will still continue to repair and refit boats along side other projects currently being worked on.

2014 Solo Championships saw Andy Couch crowned Solo Nations Champion out at Lake Garda Italy.
No mean feat! He joins one of the few who have beaten Charlie Cumbley at a Major event. Sailing his Epoxy infused Boon Solo Andy took the fight right into Charlie’s back yard with a final race show down, which Andy took with honours. Again proving the multiple championship winning design from the Boon Boats workshop is more than a match from the now much wider choice of available manufacturers. With some 250+ Boon Solos manufactured it continues to be the most successful and innovative Solo design introduced into the class since 2008.
On the GP14 front Sam Watson and Andy Hunter proved to have plenty in the performance tank when they came a very close second at the Class Inlands Championships before travelling out to Ireland for the GP14 Worlds held at Strangford Loch. Pitched against class supremos Ian Dobson and Andy Tunicliffe, they managed a superb scoreline that by midweek saw them leading the event overall, with a scoreline of 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 5. A last race show down saw them take 2nd overall. These two guys have improved at a remarkable rate over the 2014 season since they acquired their Boon GP14 14132. Former Class Champion Mike Senior paired up with Andy Davis of HD Sails to push Dobson and Tunnicliffe at the Class Nationals held at Weymouth. They managed 2nd overall in a Boon borrowed from Ian Sinclair 14123. A new team and a borrowed boat that could so easily have been a win but for missing out a mark OOPS! This boat was loaned out later to Pete Mackin and Sam Platt who then went onto win the Youth Championships held at Bolton SC.

Pete Mackin and Sam Platt of Bolton SC took line honours at this years GP14 youth Championships.
They counted three 1, 1, 1, 2 to complete a conquering score line. Saturday proved to be the testing day when wind built throughout the day to provide exciting sailing for all competitors, Sunday provided a little respite.
However Pete and Sam had left an indelible mark on Saturday with three straight 1sts
Thanks must also go to the boat owner Ian Sinclair for generously loaning his new Boon Epoxy GP14 14123, I know he will be very happy with the result.
Well done to Sam Watson and Andy Hunter on there 2nd overall at the recently completed 8 race World Championship held in Northern Ireland on Strangford Loch. They completed their tally of results counting 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 5. Simply brilliant.
Using GP14 14132, an all Infused Epoxy Boon hull they powered their way around the course, and got to lead the Championship overall by midweek. They have had a brilliant 2014 season in the new boat and continue to improve at an alarming pace.
Very well done guys and much deserved. Keep up the good work 😉
Just added to the used boats and equipment section,
GP14 Selden Cumulus mast, Selden Boom and beautiful Selden Carbon Pole.
Discounted from list. Take a look
Andy Couch has taken overall victory at this years Solo Nations Trophy in Italy sailing his Epoxy infused Boon Solo 5418. He opened his account on day one winning the first race of the event, closely followed up by two 3rds placing him in 2nd overall behind defending champion Charlie Cumbley.
Day 2, arrived and Andy posted a 2nd in the first race followed by two more race wins in the afternoon. This left him overall leader on count back after day two and 6 races.
All was left to be decided on the last day. Andy came out of the start line to a clear win in race one showing devastating upwind pace that he had shown throughout the weekend across all conditions. He now had his points in the bag with four 1sts a 2nd and a 3rd.
The only opponent that could still mathematically take the win was Charlie Cumbley. Race 2 of the last day again saw Andy take the lead at the first mark, however with his points now in the bag he chose to keep a close eye out on Charlie and prevent this scenario from happening.
Andy has been working hard towards this event since the start of the season, and with a little of our help is a very deserving winner in a field of past multiple champions. Very very well done Andy.
The Boon Epoxy Solo was introduced in late 2007 early 2008, winning its first ever National Championship that year. Since then the boat has gone through a number of updates and production changes and has continued its on going development to win against some tough competition.
It has stayed at the front of one of the UKs toughest and most competitive fleets winning the Nationals/Nations Trophy ….2008 Torquay, 2009 North berwick, 2010 Felpham, 2011 Abersoch and now 2014 Lake Garda.
Congratulations Andy Couch Class Champion!
Andy Couch sailing his Epoxy Resin Infused Boon Solo 5418 took line honours this weekend at the Yorkshire Dales Solo Open Meeting. He counted 1, 1, 3, 4. to take line honours overall.
This follows on from an overall win at Port Dinorwic Solo Open a couple of weeks ago with 2 sharp bullets against strong competition from Mike Sims and Andy Tunnicliffe on what proved to be testing day for all.
Andys next stop will be Lake Garda for the Nations Trophy next week.
Good Luck Andy.
